#2 Smarter Apps with on-device AI

    Huawei

Today, most artificial intelligence services have to send your data to the Cloud in order to perform the analysis. With specific chipset capabilities, calculations can be done directly on the phone, with less risk of data getting leaked or hacked.Furthermore, AI apps tend to be real-time and mission-critical, any AI-use cases that enhance an experience can’t afford latency. With on-device computation you can improve the performance of your app and resolve privacy and cost related issues. In this Tech Talk, we will present HiAI Foundation, a framework to convert, optimize and process custom AI models into Huawei devices accelerated by the…

#3 Maps and Apps - One color doesn’t fit all

    TomTom

A map is an integral part of almost every mobile app. It helps users to find the closest pizza place or meet their taxi driver. User experience with the map and the way it looks play a vital role in overall user experience of the mobile app. That’s why choosing the right map to display, while developing a mobile app, is so important. But what does it mean to choose the right map? Every app has a different purpose and therefore different types of maps are relevant for each app. Customizing a map style has never been easier with the…

But what does it mean to choose the right map? Every app has a different purpose and therefore different types of maps are relevant for each app. Customizing a map style has never been easier with the recently released TomTom Map Customization Tool. The functionality is simple: you can build and edit your map style, export the results to JSON file and incorporate the project to display in your app. It’s so simple that any average tech-savvy person could create a custom map style.

    #4 Transfer Learning

    Google

Transfer learning is a powerful technique that lets people with smaller datasets or less computational power achieve state-of-the-art results, by taking advantage of pre-trained models that have been trained on similar, larger data sets. Because the model learned via transfer learning doesn’t have to learn from scratch, it can generally reach higher accuracy with much less data and computation time than models that don’t use transfer learning.
AutoML leverages transfer learning technology to make machine learning more accessible to everybody. Auto ML allows to build and deploy state-of-art machine learning models based on your data.

    #5 StarTship Enterprise

    ESA BIC Switzerland

Every now and again, seemingly separate and unrelated innovations converge and, in doing so, irreversibly change the world in profound ways. Since the first satellite, Sputnik in 1957, data from space has been tightly held by a few powerful governments and used to promote national agendas. Small satellites and reduced launch costs have enabled increased access to space, enabling a new wave of entrepreneurs who are providing unprecedented access to this valuable data, thereby breaking the established grip on power and allowing anyone to meaningfully participate in the future. SPACE HAS NO LIMITS!

    #6 Data Quality & Virtualization

    Berexia Conseil (Swiss) AG

Today we have business needs of producing innovative algorithms to identify and ensure the quality of the data. Meanwhile, we have multiple constraints of accuracy, privacy, etc... The talk is about the use of data virtualization patterns and how it is helping us to make reliable and flexible architectures around data.

#7 Accessible Tech: inclusion and innovation

    Microsoft

Accessibility is an ongoing design requirement. As society digitally transforms, every organisation must ensure that it reaches people with disabilities, and that's going to require a deeper understanding of the topic. Microsoft are building accessibility in from the start; through our culture, processes, product and our approach to innovation. Hector Minto will share how accessibility is an opportunity you should not miss and the role artificial intelligence will play in today's inclusive technology.

#8 The Tech Behind Autonomous Stores

    Valora

Customers continue to demand more from their favorite retail brands. They want longer opening hours, faster checkout, cheaper prices and better selection. One answer to provide all of this are autonomous stores - just grab and go. Valora, the company behind iconic brands such as k kiosk and Brezelkönig, is bringing these concepts to Switzerland with their avec box and k kiosk box stores. In his keynote, Michael will give insights into the tech behind the store of the future and the unique challenges of operating software that interacts with the physical world. #9 Legged Robots for Real-World Applications

    ANYbotics

Robots change the way we work. After robotic systems have revolutionized how we manufacture goods and fulfill logistics, the next generation of robots will take over tasks outside of specialized factory buildings. At ANYbotics, a Swiss startup company, we create autonomous legged robots for routine inspections in industrial sectors such as oil & gas, chemical, railways, construction, and many more. In this TechTalk, you will experience our newest robot ANYmal C hands-on, get to know the technology and applications behind our products, and learn what to expect in the future of autonomous mobile robots. #10 SCION: A next-generation Internet Architecture

    Anapaya Systems

The Internet has been successful beyond even the most optimistic expectations. However, the current state of security and availability of the Internet is far from proportionate with its importance. While the application and the physical layers have adapted to new needs and trends, the core protocols have remained mostly unchanged for decades. In particular, the Internet was not adequately designed for high availability in the face of (human) errors and attacks. The SCION secure Internet architecture, developed at ETH Zurich, is a next-generation disruptive network technology. The SCION secure Internet architecture, developed at ETH Zurich, is a next-generation disruptive network technology. Through its path-aware architecture and distributed trust model, SCION solves many of the problems that plague today’s Internet. In this talk, we present SCION, its goals, design, and the results of a decade of research at ETH Zurich. Furthermore, we present practical use-cases that are currently in live deployments and a roadmap how we can transfer this technology from the research lab to the real world.
